What we collect

When you use Bookmarkme, we store the data you create:

• Your email address and name (for your account)
• Bookmarks you save (URLs, titles, notes, tags)
• Collections you create
• AI-generated summaries of your bookmarks (Pro plan)
• Highlights and annotations (Pro plan)

How we use your data

Your data is used solely to provide the Bookmarkme service to you. We do not sell, share, or monetize your personal data or bookmark content. Specifically:

• Your bookmarks are stored securely and only accessible to you (unless you share a collection publicly)
• AI features send bookmark content to our AI provider (OpenAI) to generate summaries — this content is not stored by the AI provider or used for training
• We use your email to send account-related communications and bookmark reminders (if enabled)
• We do not track your browsing history beyond the pages you explicitly bookmark

Google Login

If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google. We do not access your Google Drive, Gmail, contacts, or any other Google data. The Google authentication token is used solely for identity verification.

Chrome extension permissions

The Bookmarkme Chrome extension requests these permissions:

• Access to all websites — required to display the Bookmarkme overlay on any page you're browsing, so you can save bookmarks without leaving the page
• Tabs — to read the current page title and URL when you save a bookmark
• Storage — to save your login session locally
• Identity — for Google Sign-In

We do not read, collect, or transmit any data from pages you visit unless you explicitly choose to bookmark them.

Payment data

Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your credit card number. Stripe handles all payment data in compliance with PCI DSS standards. We store only your Stripe customer ID to manage your subscription.

Data storage & security

Your data is stored on servers hosted in Europe. All communication between the extension and our servers uses HTTPS encryption. Passwords are hashed using PBKDF2 with per-user salts. Authentication uses RS256 signed JWT tokens.

Data deletion

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from the Settings panel in the app. When you delete your account, all your bookmarks, collections, tags, highlights, and AI summaries are permanently removed from our servers.
